Invest in a swing that attaches to the top of a doorway. Your baby will happily bounce for hours, building stronger legs while giving you precious time to work around the house.

If you're pregnant, wash fruits and vegetables carefully to avoid bacteria.

If you need a short break from nursing your baby, give her your index finger to suck on instead of a pacifier. It's just as calming and won't contribute to any nipple confusion the way a pacifier can.

To help bathe a fussy baby, put on a pair of white cotton gloves, dip them in a little water and mild soap, and then hold and rub your baby gently until she's clean.

Avoid drinking coffee and tea with meals; they may interfere with iron absorption.

If you're pregnant, let someone else handle the oven cleaner.

If your iron supplement is causing constipation, add more fiber to your diet.

If you're worried about computers and miscarriage, use a laptop model instead of a desktop.

When pregnant, always carry healthy snacks, such as carrot sticks or nuts and raisins.

Look for Dr. Seuss-style baby books with rhythm and word play.

To dress your fussy newborn: First sit her on your lap and support her with one arm. Stretch the garment over her head with your fingers keeping the fabric from her face. Put your hand into the sleeve, gently grasp your baby's hand and pull it through.

If your baby's nose is stuffy, try a humidifier.

When going off birth control pills, doctors advise waiting three cycles before trying to get pregnant.

Cook with a cast-iron skillet to add more iron to your diet when pregnant.

If your baby is circumcised, give him a sponge bath (not a tub bath) until the area is healed.

Avoiding greasy, spicy foods will prevent heartburn during pregnancy.

Do not give your infant any small, hard foods, such as nuts, popcorn or raisins.

Install your infant car seat a couple weeks before your due date when you can take the time to read the directions and do it properly.

Strengthen your abdominal muscles before you decide to get pregnant to prevent back pain during pregnancy.
