    Cleansing Products
    (Various maufacturers)

Baby's skin can be so sensitive, which makes choosing the right cleansing products even more important. Good news for moms: There are plenty of excellent, hypo-allergenic, ultra-sensitive product lines available. The best products tend to be fragrance- and dye-free, non-greasy, and made with the most gentle and soothing ingredients. And whichever product you choose, don't forget to slather on the sunscreen. Perhaps with the longest history, Mustela, a French baby product line developed by pharmaceutical companies, has been used in European hospitals for 50 years. Like Baby Magic, Mustela is virtually a household name abroad. Mustela was first introduced in the U.S. in 1988, and soon earned somewhat of a cult following among savvy American moms. Not at all drying to the skin, the products are very gentle, sweet-smelling, and include lots of moisturizers. The cleansing cloths are so wonderful, moms can even use them--they make great makeup removers.

Not too long ago, makeup maven Bobbi Brown, mother of three, created a line of products that can be used by both baby and mom. Called Baby Essentials, the products are extremely gentle, dye-free, and very emollient. Another great benefit--they smell wonderful with hints of orange, peach, and white lilies. The line includes a gentle body wash and shampoo, soothing body balm, massage oil, powder, and diaper balm. The line is available at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Moms who like all-natural products may want to check out Origins' baby products. The line known for its "Sensory Therapy" products has introduced eight products geared specifically toward baby's sensitive skin. The line includes: baby massage cream; tear-free hair and body wash; cleansing bar; baby lotion; non-greasy baby oil; powder; baby bottom balm with shea butter and cooling aloe vera; and sunscreen product with SPF 25. The products are available wherever Origins products are sold.
