Babies love rhyming for its predictability and rhythm, and they can't resist bold colors and animals.
Cow Moo Me's got 'em all. One of a series of books from the Harper Growing Tree, it's specially designed and written to appeal to infants. (Other titles include
Do You Know New? and
Maybe My Baby). The rhyming is silly and doesn't make much sense, but your baby could probably care less since the sounds are so much fun: "Cow moo me, Cow moo you. Cow moo milk, Cow moo moo." Or "Pig oink slop, pig oink slurp. Pig oink mud, pig oink burp!" The wide-eyed colorful animals, including a pig, horse, owl and a bee are also sure to engage and entertain your baby.
