"We're so glad you came!" is the greeting of this wonderful book for a new mother and her baby. "On the eve of your birth....the earth and her creatures with the sun and the moon all moved in their places, each ready to greet you for the first moment of the very first day you arrived."The book has award-winning illustrations (the simple, vivid pictures recall Matisse). Each cut-paper figure is explained in simple, direct language, as it depicts animals, gravity, a glowing moon, and a rising tide.
The author, Debra Frasier, wrote the book when she was hospitalized prior to the delivery of her only daughter. Get a hankie, because the stories bring tears of joy.
As a bonus, baby receives a soft rattle (comes attached to the book) that has a donut shaped yellow handle, "Welcome" embroidered in yellow stars, and a red figure of a child dancing.
Recommended for infants to toddlers.
