PREGNANCY CHIC: THE FASHION SURVIVAL GUIDE

Reviewed by: Kristy Larson

Author: Cherie Serota and Jody Kozlow Gardner
Publisher/Manufacturer: Villard
Six years ago, two fashion executives and mothers-to-be ran into a dilemma when trying to figure out how to remain stylish and hip-looking while pregnant. So Cherie Serota and Jody Kozlow Gardner created a four-piece wardrobe consisting of the essentials - a tunic top, skirt, dress and leggings. They named their creation "The Pregnancy Survival Kit" and moms across the globe gobbled up the idea.

Then, the two expanded the concept and revealed their secrets of getting dressed easily and comfortably- without spending a lot of cash- in their book, Pregnancy Chic: The Fashion Survival Guide. The authors divulge ways to get dressed without forgetting your personal style- "Your style before you became pregnant should continue to be your style during your pregnancy. You are still the same person."

They also include lots of firsthand fashion tips that moms-to-be will love. These include ways to buy underwear (remember to go up probably two sizes for non-maternity panties); choosing a comfortable handbag; the way scarves can totally change your look; and how to choose flattering blazers, dresses, and pants. The book also includes informative sections on subjects like dressing for work, what to wear for casual and formal events, and how to pack for travel.

Overall, this is an excellent manual for new moms and includes style tips that will remain useful even when maternity clothes are a distant memory.
