Diet & Nutrition: Linda Hsieh
My 7-month-old only likes a few types of fruit and vegetables. Is she being deprived of certain nutrients by frequently eating the same foods?

Babies under a year of age depend on breast milk or an iron-fortified formula as their main source of nutrients, so you needn't worry that your picky eater is falling short on nutrition. Initial refusal of new flavors and textures is not uncommon. Continue to encourage your baby to try different fruits and vegetables. And don't give up on the ones she's refused: She may decide she likes prunes, for example, when they're reintroduced a week or two later.
